About Us

Profile:

The Political Science and International Relations Undergraduate Program aims at an excellent academic and practice-oriented education. The following features make it a unique degree program:
  • Internationality and connections to Germany
  • Multilingualism
  • Interdisciplinarity
  • Excellent methodological training
  • Interactive teaching methods
  • Practical relevance

Concept:
TGU's international profile, including its connection to Germany is one of the distinguishing features of the department. Students benefit from innovative and interactive teaching methods as well as the excellent international academic staff.

Besides courses in political science and international relations, the interdisciplinary program offers education in application-oriented social science and neighboring disciplines such as law and business administration. The program also provides students with the opportunity to specialize in various fields with different elective courses.

Internship and training opportunities in Germany are supported in order to complement the international orientation beyond the course content and to promote students' intercultural skills. The languages of instruction are German, Turkish and, in some elective courses, English.

The program offers graduates career opportunities in national and international administrations, in market and political research, in the media sector, public relations or in companies and associations. The ability to analyse European and international political processes is becoming increasingly important for a career in international organizations, national administration and the privat sector.

The Bachelor's degree qualifies students for subsequent Master's studies. Graduates can apply for the Master's program in European and International Affairs at TGU or for Master's programs at other renowned Turkish, European or US universities. In the long term, this prepares students for an doctorate or an academic career.

Double Degree Program:

A memorandum of intent was signed between Chemnitz Technical University and the Turkish-German University for the double degree program. As a preliminary phase of this important process, the DAAD-YÖK Exchange Program has been launched as of the 2024-2025 academic year. Within the scope of the program, our selected students, who meet the conditions, will continue their educational activities for two semesters at Chemnitz Technical University in Germany with a DAAD-YÖK Exchange Program scholarship. As of the fall semester of the 2024-2025 academic year, 4 of our students participate in the program and are currently continuing their education at Chemnitz Technical University. In the future, it is aimed to develop the process and transition to a double degree. The Coordinators of the DAAD-YÖK Exchange Program are Prof. Dr. Kai Oppermann from Chemnitz Technical University and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Turhan, faculty member of our department.
